Hiking

There are endless trails to be discovered starting directly from Le Mas du Bois Doré. A short drive into the hills opens up vast areas of mountains, valleys, lakes and rivers full of natural wonders and awe-inspiring views.

Our Rivers

La Siagnole and La Siagne are two rivers withing easy access of Le Mas. The Gorges de la Siagnole and La Siagne are a nature-lover's paradise with waterfalls, 2000 year-old Roman-made trout pools and aqueducts, wet hanging gardens and plunge pools. The Artuby river provides fabulous un-spoilt river walks as do the ever-changing rock formations of the dry river-bed of Le Fil.

Rafting, Canoeing and Canyoning - Gorges du Verdon

Europe's deepest gorge is great for rafting, rock-climbing, canyoning, bungy jumping, and so much more. A visit to the Gorge Du Verdon starts at Castellane and is a must-do trip.

Rock Climbing

Mons has several prepared climbing spots only a short distance from the village.

Tennis

Mons municipal tennis court is open to all. Reservations are at the local tourist office.

Paragliding


The Mont Lachens near Mons is a popular launch site for paragliders.

Initiation tandem jumps can be arranged with qualified professionals at St André les Alps

Horse-back Riding

There are many beautiful trails in and around Mons for trekking. There are trekking clubs in Mons, Callian, Fayence and Seillans.

Mountain Biking/Cycling


Mount Lachens, just above Mons, is the starting point for a national mountain-biking competition that goes off road from the top of Mount Lachens, through Mons and all the way down to Frejus. This is a very popular sport in the hills of the Haut Var with a vast array of fabulous off-road tracks for all levels of difficulty.

In the summer the ski-lifts of Audiberg double up as mountain-bike lifts and bikes can be rented on a daily basis for a day out mountain-biking on the ski runs of Audiberg.

Ski-ing

The resort of Audiberg is only 30 minutes from Mons village and the larger resort of Gréolieres-les-Neiges is a 45 minute drive. Both resorts are great fun for a day's ski-ing. Adventure to the top lifts at Gréolieres and ski down the slopes with the Mediterranean spread out below.
Ski-school, tobogganing and tiny-tots slopes are available in both resorts, as well as the usual ski-hire and lift passes..
